Fight for NK
Stop the sewage sludge plant
Risk to our Town's
Quality of Life
Health Concerns:

-
Scientific studies and EPA regulatory materials indicate that sewage sludge pyrolysis and related thermal treatment systems can generate regulated air pollutants and byproducts — including nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur compounds, particulate matter, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), methane-containing gases, and odorous compounds — depending on feedstock composition, plant design, and operating conditions.
Foul Odor:

-
Residents near sludge-processing facilities have frequently reported odor impacts extending into surrounding neighborhoods, schools and churches.
Town Water Risk:

-
The facility would be within a regional aquifer system that provides drinking water to public systems and private wells in North Kingstown, East Greenwich, parts of Warwick, and Narragansett.
